Sculptra is not a filler in the usual sense. It is poly-L-lactic acid, a collagen bio-stimulator made by Galderma, and instead of filling a hollow directly it prompts your own skin to rebuild the collagen that age has taken away. Dr. Fehmida describes it as a fertiliser for collagen: the product is placed where volume has been lost, most often at the temples and mid-cheeks, and over the following months the skin thickens and the face regains structure.
Because the change comes from your own collagen, it arrives gradually and looks natural. A course is usually two to three sessions about four to six weeks apart, the result builds over three to six months, and it lasts around two years. It suits patients who want a subtle, lasting restoration rather than an instant change, and it is often combined with hyaluronic acid filler where a precise contour is needed.
