Profhilo vs Other Skin Boosters: Which One Suits Your Skin?

Profhilo vs Other Skin Boosters: Which One Suits Your Skin?

Profhilo, Jalupro and polynucleotides all improve skin quality in different ways. A Karachi dermatologist explains how each works and which suits your skin.

Profhilo is one of the most requested skin treatments in Karachi, and it is often described as an injectable moisturiser. That is a fair start, but it is only one of several skin boosters, and each works differently. Choosing the right one depends on what your skin needs: hydration, firmness, repair or all three.

At the clinic: Dr. Fehmida offers Profhilo and the other main skin boosters, so the choice is made for your skin. See Profhilo or our overview of skin boosters in Karachi.

What Profhilo is

Profhilo is a high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid, made with a heat process that combines long and short chains of the molecule. Instead of sitting in one spot like a filler, it spreads under the skin after injection and is absorbed slowly. Over the following weeks it draws in water and stimulates the skin to make more collagen and elastin.

The result is skin that looks more hydrated, smoother and firmer, with a soft glow. It does not add volume or change the shape of the face, which is why it suits people who want better skin without looking different.

How Profhilo is given

Treatment is usually two sessions, four weeks apart, using five small injection points on each side of the face. Each session takes around fifteen minutes. Small bumps at the injection points settle within a day, and most people go back to work straight away. The full result shows about four weeks after the second session, and a top-up every six months keeps it going.

The other skin boosters

Jalupro combines amino acids, the building blocks of collagen, with hyaluronic acid. It is a good choice for skin that looks thin, crepey or tired, and for early lines around the eyes and mouth.

Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments that support the skin’s own repair. They are especially useful for the delicate skin under the eyes, for thin or sun-damaged skin, and for improving texture and fine scarring.

Exosomes are applied after microneedling or laser rather than injected on their own. They help the skin recover faster and improve tone and texture, so they are often paired with other treatments.

Which one suits you?

Choose Profhilo if your skin feels dry and looks dull, makeup sits badly, or the lower face has started to soften slightly. It is the most popular first skin booster because the change is noticeable but natural.

Choose Jalupro if your skin looks thin and crinkles when you smile, particularly around the eyes and mouth.

Choose polynucleotides if the main concern is dark, thin skin under the eyes, or texture and fine scarring from sun or acne.

Many patients combine them, for example Profhilo for the face and polynucleotides under the eyes, planned so the sessions fit together.

What skin boosters cannot do

Skin boosters improve skin quality. They do not lift heavy sagging, replace lost volume in the cheeks or treat deep lines. If those are the main concerns, a dermatologist may suggest fillers, collagen-stimulating injections or a tightening treatment instead. Read more in our guide to anti-ageing treatment in Karachi.

Frequently asked questions

Is Profhilo a filler?
No. It is made of hyaluronic acid like many fillers, but it spreads under the skin to improve hydration and quality rather than adding volume or changing shape.

How long does Profhilo last?
Around six months after a course of two sessions. Regular top-ups keep the skin in better condition over time.

Can I combine Profhilo with Botox?
Yes. They do different jobs: Profhilo improves skin quality and Botox relaxes expression lines. They are often planned together.

Which skin booster is best for under-eye skin?
Polynucleotides are usually the first choice for thin, dark under-eye skin, because they are gentle and support repair.

Are skin boosters safe for brown skin?
Yes. They are injected beneath the surface and do not cause pigmentation when given with good technique.
